Tilman Lesch (pictured) is a Ph.D. student supervised by Professor Barbara Sahakian. Here, he provides advice to potential students eligible for the CHESS scholarship.
All applicants eligible for the Cambridge Home and EU Scholarship Scheme (CHESS) should not miss this easy scholarship opportunity. It requires no separate application form from the one you submit online. Just make sure that you tick the appropriate box online and the according CHESS deadline, which usually is in early January.
When the Board of Graduate Studies (BGS) has confirmed your eligibility, your department or faculty submits a list of nominees back to BGS. The departments usually try to allocate their application to different scholarship schemes. Therefore you should also keep your supervisor informed about all awards and scholarships you apply for especially when your department or faculty is involved in the awarding process.
As EU student I was awarded a the CHESS scholarship covering all university and college fees for the three years of my PhD at Cambridge .
